food: putting up pickles

I wish I'd had this photo for "something green" day and/or "fruit" day (did you know? botanically speaking, a cucumber is a modified berry?  true story.)

I love canning.  And I love dill pickles.  So it's no wonder that I have twelve quarts and seven pints of cucumbers brining away until October, when they'll be ready for the snacking.  I use the instructions from the Mixed Greens blog.  Next up: apricot jam (at Eric's request -- apparently last year's was good), and various mixed berry jams.
